A premium fine-dining Indian restaurant is set to open its doors in the heart of Leith thanks to a new letting deal with SRA Ventures.
The property investment specialist recently purchased the former Kublai Khan restaurant at 43 Assembly Street and terms were subsequently agreed with Salim Haider of the Mumbai Mansion restaurant chain.
Following agreement of a 10 year lease with SRA, Mumbai Mansion now plans to open a new branch on the site, further expanding its Edinburgh offering.
Mumbai Mansion first opened its doors to Edinburgh diners in 2009 with a successful Haymarket venture in Morrison Street which combined seasonal Scottish produce with exceptional Indian flavours to create one of the capital’s finest eating experiences.
The new Leith location aims to replicate and extend that success in another popular area of Edinburgh thanks to the same ethos of Indian-trained chefs transforming classic dishes into modern favourites with exciting twists.
Founder and owner of SRA Ventures, Shaf Rasul said: “This prime site with its great dining history deserves a strong culinary presence, and we’re now seeing that in this new lease agreement with Mumbai Mansion, allowing it to expand its Edinburgh footprint.
“I’m in no doubt that it will be welcomed to Leith with open arms, continuing the chain’s major success story, and reinvigorating a great site.”
